Alan Oliver Workboats was established in 1972 to carry cargo from the Humber ports to the industrial heart of South and West Yorkshire and to the Trent port of Gainsborough.
From 1977 onwards we have been primarily involved with civil engineering projects either on or alongside waterways.
We do still occasionally carry cargo and have close contacts with the main freight barge operators in the area.
We are based on the river Don at Doncaster and at Goole Docks on the river Ouse but have been involved in projects all over the UK.
These projects include “non navigable” rivers and Fenland drains, many reservoirs and even lakes in the grounds of stately homes.
The navigable rivers and canals we have worked on range from the narrow canals of the Midlands to the river Humber, the river Mersey, the river Tees, the river Wear, the Firth of Forth in Scotland, the river Ouse in Cambridgeshire and various rivers in the Lake District. .
